Marc Jacobs went for a tougher approach with black paillettes on structured black garments. Paillettes lift an outfit and are definitely the trendiest way to wear sequins.
Apparently sequins are thought to date back to 2500BC! Evidence suggests that the people of Pakistan attached gold versions to clothes in the Kot Diji era. Fast forward a few thousand years and sequins are available not just on the catwalk but all over the High Street from Marks and Spencer to Primark. Be brave about it and wear your sequins with confidence. Gold or red will be particularly dazzling for the festive season. For a day time look, team sequins with a less textured item. Pair a sequined top with a cashmere knit and smart jeans for pretty yet comfortable Christmas Day style.
