Fashion label Eley Kishimoto works by the maxim ‘Print the world’. After creating print designs for Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen and Alber Elbez, among others, Eley Kishimoto launched their own womenswear line in the mid 90s. As one of the most successful partnerships in fashion, Mark Eley and Wakako Kishimoto soon moved their design expertise onto home furnishings, wallpapers, glass wear and crockery.
Now for the first time, they have formed a collaboration with funky jewellery brand Tatty Divine. Eley Kishimoto invited the cult jeweller to design a range based on their latest prints, imaginatively named Batmosphere, Rush and Star Struck! Tatty Devine picked out individual elements of the prints to create some very fun necklaces and earrings.
The Eley Kishimoto A/W fashion collection includes (as you might expect from the name) bats and stars, as well as colourful animal prints and florals. If you love cute, fun fashion this is right up your street. There is a floaty trapeze dress with large shooting star print, an oversized cardy with bat motif across the chest and geometric mid length long sleeved dress.
The jewellery on offer is made from shiny perspex, so they appear to pop right out of the original pattern. Materials include dazzling glitter and mirror perspex, with the addition of Swarovski crystals. Don’t be fooled into thinking these bits of Perspex come cheap though, as the most expensive necklace costs £108. It is the ‘Star Struck’ necklace, made from silver and blue glitter laser cut stars hanging from platinum coloured chain. For a cheaper alternative you can get a single star struck pendent for £33.
There are heart shaped necklaces too, but my favourite has to be the bats. The ‘Batmosphere Mini’ necklace is £27 but for more of an eye catching piece the ‘Batmosphere Multi Drop’ necklace could be worn for day or night. The wings are etched with swooping yellow lines, coloured by hand, and the bat is also curved by hand to stand out slightly from the body. Eleven mirror circles hang from the Perspex bat, making this glamorous piece perfect for nocturnal adventures.
