How to Wear the Midi A-Line Skirt and Not Look Like Your Mother

205 Vero Moda Skirt

We have been told all year that the midi skirt is hip, but are you convinced? It was one of the must have pieces for summer, especially if it was pleated.  If you still haven’t bought into the trend, skip the pleats and do it with an A-line version of the mid length skirt.  An A-line midi will take you from summer to autumn seamlessly, so it is the perfect investment for August.

For a casual, contemporary look, go for high waisted denim, maybe buttoned down the front and tuck in a simple white graphic tee.  Pair with wedge sandals and you have a great late summer look. An A-line skirt is also a great way to channel the 70s vibe which is oh-so hot right now.  Pick a simple A-line skirt and wear with platform knee high boots in a burnt orange.  Polo neck sweaters are making a huge come back, so balance out your silhouette with a skinny roll neck jumper and add a satchel or cross over bag.

It is important to wear heels for this look, otherwise you risk looking frumpy.  Knee high boots will keep you cosy through winter, but heels work just as well for work or evening. If the 70s trend is not vintage enough for you, why not embrace the Victoriana look?  A ladylike skirt can be worn with knee high lace-up boots, either in black or brown.  On top you can wear a blouse or embellished vest top for a pretty evening look.

There is no need to look frumpy in a midi skirt.  In fact if you are not a fan of your legs but find maxi skirts impractical, a midi is a breath of fresh air.  The key points to look young and fabulous are –

  • Wear with heels or knee high boots.
  • Wear a skinny fitting top and tuck it in to show off your waist.
  • Just skimming the knee is the most flattering and youthful length for petite girls, taller ladies can wear longer.
